My Problem is Me

01_08_52-duck_webI am my biggest problem. I can blame life all I want but the real problem lies within. I believe this to be true of most people. Life is as good as we make it and how we view life is directly related to our spiritual and psychological condition. There are some people that are naturally healthy spiritually and mentally, whether due to their upbringing, their genes or their karma. They are naturally accepting of life and maintain relative peace and contentment, no matter what there lot. Others will need to work at being happy and peaceful. Read more…

There is Suffering

Most of us would say that I am sad, I am angry, I am in pain or I am suffering when we experience such feelings and emotions. Are feelings and emotions such as sadness, anger, pain and suffering original to each of us or are they shared by us all? The Self and How We Relate to Others

The less self-centered we are or in other words, the smaller our self, the better we will relate and interact with others, for the most part. When we become bothered in some way by a person with whom we have interacted, it is a result of our self. I have written about this self in other posts but not so much about how it affects our relationships with other people. Do You Ever Feel Small?

Have you ever gone outside at night and looked up at the moon and stars and realized just how small you really are? It’s almost a feeling of insignificance but it’s not related to low self-esteem. This realization, this feeling of being small, immediately diminishes our self-importance leaving us with a feeling of peace. The vastness of the dark sky illuminated by the moon and filled with millions of stars affords of the blessing of realizing just how small our problems really are. Read more…

Pure Awareness

We all have thoughts and feelings, positive, negative, pleasant, unpleasant and everything in between. Let’s say for example, you have a pleasant thought followed by the corresponding pleasant feeling. What is it exactly that is feeling pleasant? I’m not a doctor so let’s keep this simple and say that all of this happens in your brain. What is it then that is aware that these thoughts and feelings arise and cease in your brain? Is your brain aware that it thinks and feels? Can your brain be aware of itself or is there another form of awareness, consciousness or soul that does not exist in the brain? Are you in your brain?
